Beaucanon Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

For a vintage that saw some ups and downs our 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon is like turning straw into liquid gold! Our newest release showcases the growing maturity of the Longwood Ranch Vineyard A small crop of tiny berries has given a wine with intensity and balance; a classic vintage! The solid garnet color of the wine shows off in heavy tinted legs indicating good extraction The nose follows through with a bonanza of sweet black fruit; berries currants licorice and secondary notes of spicy oak and dark earth Take the first sip cautiously as massive mouth filling flavors of blackberry cassis and brown baking spice might overwhelm! A light touch of acidity and a hint of sweet alcohol carries the flavors through a haze of chewy tannins that melt slowly into a minuteslong finishLike all our Cabernets this one has great potential for aging over a decade but dont let that stop you from trying a few bottles in the meantime Pair it with lamb chops and ribeyes and spare a bit to create the perfect sauce It has the grace to stand up to duck breast and the power to complement game you wont de disappointed with any pairing you try!Louis de ConinckWinemaker Beaucanon Estate

Situated in beautiful Napa Valley, on the historic Longwood Ranch, Beaucanon Estate reflects the proud history and experience of the de Coninck family of St. Emilion. Our vineyards provide outstanding grapes that, with the blessings of nature and the knowledgeable hands of an experienced Bordelaise winemaker, become epic and uncommon wines, expressing the intense fruit quality of California along with the balance and elegance of Bordeaux. The descendents of Jacques de Coninck are carrying forward the tradition of the family and its winemaking heritage. Louis de Coninck creates our wines with an emphasis on structure, mouth-feel and the luscious flavors of Napa Valley fruit. Like all great winemakers, Louis excels at highlighting the natural characteristics of perfectly ripe fruit, without resorting to popular techniques that emphasize tannins or alcohol. Aging takes place in carefully selected barrels and creating the final blend to produce wines of such intriguing complexity requires an intuitive and delicate touch. The result is concentrated, richly flavored and balanced wines that are pleasant and engaging when young, and only get better with maturity. Read less
