Ataraxia Chardonnay 2009
Much lauded chardonnay from the cool climate Hemel en Aarde (did I spell it right? It means heaven and earth if I understand Afrikaans by now) in the eastern parts of the South African Cape winelands. Nice freshness and structure while still providing bright fruit and creamy texture.
Light yellow in color, oaky nose, toast and vanilla; medium bodied weight, silky and full on the palate.
I get maple, and citrus on the nose, medium body almost sour palate

A ripe flashy style with lots of ginger mango creamed papaya and peach notes and a long creamy finish that lets a grilled hazelnut note linger. A touch shy on zip on the finish. For fans of the style. Drink now. -JM Wine Spectator.

Better is the outstanding 2009 Chardonnay that is sourced from Hemel-en-Aarde and Elgin and aged for 10 months in 225-liter French oak with 34% new (the rest 2nd fill). The nose is beautifully defined with scents of melon, honeysuckle and white peach... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Chardonnay wine from Western Cape in South Africa. 2009 Ataraxia Chardonnay 750ml
