Lots of red berry flavors (strawberry) on the nose and palate. Very smooth. Good Pinot!

Prospecting the New World's coolest latitudes, Brian Croser and Rollin Soles staked a claim in Oregon's Willamette Valley, a place ideal for late season ripened Pinot Noir and Chardonnay fruit. Since 1987, Argyle Winery has produced world-class methode champenoise Sparkling wine, barrel fermented Chardonnay and 'silky' textured Pinot Noir from low yielding vines on winery farmed hillside slopes. Argyle was named "OREGON'S PREMIER WINERY" by Wine Spectator in 2000. Argyle farms three vineyards: Knudsen Vineyard, Stoller Vineyard and Lone Star Vineyard. The 120 acre Knudsen Vineyard was first planted between 1972 & 1974. The high elevation blocks of this landmark Dundee Hills site are key components in Argyle's sparkling wines. Knudsen provides Argyle a mix of old vine blocks and new high density blocks planted with "Old World" Dijon clones. Just south of Knudsen Vineyard in the Dundee Hills sits Stoller Vineyard. First planted in 1995, Stoller, like Knudsen, is planted using state of the art viticultural techniques. Stoller Vineyard has produced some of Oregon's finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In 1996 Argyle purchased a spectacular 160 acre vineyard site in the east slopes of Eola Hills, known as Lone Star Vineyard. Located 15 miles south of Argyle's winery in Dundee, this warm site is planted primarily to Dijon clones of Pinot Noir. This vineyard has the potential to be one of Oregon's best Pinot Noir vineyards. All grapes are hand harvested into small baskets and transported to the winery. Grapes are chilled overnight to 35F before crushing the next day. Chilling preserves the ripe fruit characteristics and naturally limits oxidation. Read less

This is a light bodied pinot noir that is very elegant. I was impressed.

This is a really nice Oregon Pinot Noir. It has that silky texture just like the label says.

Good varietal character, with smoky cherry, orange peel, cherry and vanilla. Supple, creamy and sweet with vanilla and spice. Pleasant, with nice complexity.

Almost 15,000 cases are made of this sturdy, solid Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. It's got more muscle and weight than the cheaper stuff from elsewhere, though not the textural interest and nuance of many single vineyard bottlings. So it falls right in the middle, and is priced accordingly, delivering red fruits, hints of herb, light toast and coffee-flavored tannins.

Black cherry and brown spice aomas swirl around a solid core of well-balanced fruit flavors.

A great value and one of the easiest-to-find wines from Oregon, this screw-capped lovely is smooth and round, seductively plush in texture but not overwhelming in flavor. It keeps its musky cherry, plum and tobacco flavors in harmony as they sail into the long finish. Drink now through 2008.

Rich and fruity Pinot Noir is the focus at this winery from the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Medium-bodied, soft berry fruit and simply great varietal character keeps us coming back for more.

This is a subtle and intriguing bottle, crafted from a range of sources, offered in significant quantities (16,300 cases) and showing varietal fruit, spice and a deft touch with the barrels. Not a big wine, but balanced and quite flavorful, with more depth than you expect at this price point. Lots of chocolate and spicy burnt coffee in the finish.

Its fruit aroma is a huge mélange of bright, concentrated raspberry with a hint of citrus and creamy vanilla bean spice. The flavor is super-sweet blackberry/raspberry fruitiness with a crème brulee texture. The sweet middle segues into a long dark fruit centered finish.
