Argento Malbec 2009
Winemaker's Notes:
The Piropo label is made by Argento wines. Since its launch in 1999, Argento has quickly become the leading range of wines from Argentina in the UK and represents an exciting new era in Argentine winemaking. With its high altitude vineyards, desert-like climate and natural irrigation from the Andean mountain melt water run-off, the Mendoza region is capable of producing world class fruit. The winemaking team uses the latest in cellar technology to craft wines that meet the highest quality standards and show the best characteristics of the unique vine growing conditions. This Argento Piropo Malbec is deep dark violet in colour and offers powerful aromas of blackstone fruit and notes of chocolate. The fruity flavours are complemented by a touch of sweet spice which leads into a lingering finish with ripe velvety tannins.

Add your reviewAn unusually generous and sweet bouquet – for a malbec – gives something of a lie to the taste of this wine, which is light and rather dry but smooth enough, and smoother still with a little time. Good for goat and sheep’s milk cheeses. (AV 85, http://argovino.com/?p=708)
Good quality wine for this price level. Works well with Argentinian beef
much in the way that with sushi there a lack of spice and bold flavors i believe that this wine's space right in between sweet and dry, and it's lack of strong character would make it just right with a very powerful dish

The aroma is slightly offensive... strong vinegar. Color is dark and the wine is leggy. Body is soft and spicy with a strong apple taste in front. It is highly recommended to decant this wine in order to burn off some of that vinegar flavor.
