Gigondas graduated from a Côtes du Rhône Village to simply Gigondas in 1971. Gigondas produces both red and rosé wines. For the red wine, the blend can include up to 80% Grenache and requires a minimum of 15% Syrah and/or Mourvèdre with the remainder, up to 10% of the blend, being made up of any of the allowable red varieties with the exception of Carignan. Gigondas rosé can be made of up to 80% Grenache with a maximum of 25% other allowable varieties.
