San Francisco February 8-16, 2013

Man does not live by wine alone if you believe the old winemaker's saying: It takes a lot of cold beer to make a fine wine! I've got a feeling that that tends to be true, and what better place to investigate than San Francisco? OK, maybe there is a better place but there is no better celebration of Beer in February than San Francisco Beer Week.

The week kicks off with a grand tasting featuring over 65 northern Californian brewers showcasing their wares in the Concourse Exhibition Center. There will be music, food and liters of fun but that's just the beginning. All week following the kickoff event, beer aficionados will be able to blind taste, sample, pair and discover great and innovative beers at dozens of participating restaurants and bars throughout the city. This is the mother of all pub crawls! If you like beer, do not miss it!

Lots of fun things. I think that Mendocino event sounds very interesting. I hope that one of the Northern California Snoothers can get over there and give is a report.

  • The Alsace Varietals festival is an awesome event. I went a few years ago with my older brother and had a great time. Tasty food and great wines from all over the country & overseas.
Besides Navarro, my favorites were the intriguing wines from the Leelanau Peninsula: Bel Lago (Auxerrois!), Black Star Farms, Left Foot Charley & Chateau Grand Traverse.
Bel Lago doesn't ship outside of MI, so local Snoothers, check them out.
