Virginia: February 19–24, 2013

Yes, we know that Virginia makes great wine, and it's close to New York and at least marginally warmer than where I'm sitting, so that makes me want to take off and head down to the Virginia Wine Expo.

Located in beautiful Richmond, Virginia, former home to my younger brother, the Virginia Wine Expo not only showcases great wineries but it also saves to benefit FeedMore, an umbrella organization supporting services that help feed the needy in central Virginia. There will be dozens of wineries pouring wine with all the well-known local wineries, such as Blenheim, Barboursville, Horton and Afton Mountain. Participants will not only be able to taste the wines, they will be able to purchase them at the event, and of course there will be a lot of delicious food to enjoy, so make a trip down to Virginia for this weekend of discovery.

Lots of fun things. I think that Mendocino event sounds very interesting. I hope that one of the Northern California Snoothers can get over there and give is a report.

  • The Alsace Varietals festival is an awesome event. I went a few years ago with my older brother and had a great time. Tasty food and great wines from all over the country & overseas.
Besides Navarro, my favorites were the intriguing wines from the Leelanau Peninsula: Bel Lago (Auxerrois!), Black Star Farms, Left Foot Charley & Chateau Grand Traverse.
Bel Lago doesn't ship outside of MI, so local Snoothers, check them out.
