It's harvest season all over the Northern Hemisphere and I am frankly surprised that we're not seeing more harvest-themed blogs all over the net. It's a great way to cut out the middle man (hey, wait a minute that's me) and bring information directly to the consumer. And unlike much of the rest of the year, most wine producers have something new to share every day this season. What a perfect opportunity to strengthen their relationship with their fans.
Sadly, almost no one has the time during harvest season for such an undertaking and we're stuck looking from the outside in, through opaque windows. The truth is, I'm a lot like you, and while I will try to let everyone know about the various vintage conditions, I'm chomping at the bit to find out more. Doing that requires a man or woman on the grounds.
The incredibly aptly named blog My Man in Champagne is one of the few blogs out there that is making the effort to speak for the vignerons. There are great videos on the blog, actually I stumbled upon them while exploring video content. People speak with accents! Grapes are harvested! Juices squirt! It's awesome, really. So check it out and be able to say that you followed the 2011 Champagnes from their start!
