Vintage Watch XII

Harvests are ending, harvests are starting, we are in the thick of it

From Tuscany to Burgundy, the weather looks promising for the week until rains appear for the weekend. Temperatures in Burgundy are pleasant and can keep fruit ripening though even more rain is definitely not what anyone is looking forward to.

Last Week's Forecast

Douro, Portugal

The Douro has a lot of rain to look forward to this week, though I'm not sure that that is a terrible thing given the extreme heat and dry weather the region has enjoyed this year.

Last Week's Forecast

Tain l'Hermitage, France

The Northern Rhone will enjoy the same weather as most of western Europe this week with those storms moving in over the weekend replacing seasonably warm and dry weather.

Last Week's Forecast

Avignon, France

Interestingly the southern Rhone looks to be escaping some of the rain forecast for early next week as the weather remains almost perfect save for some rain on Sunday.

Last Week's Forecast

Champagne, France

Champagne looks to be ready for a rather gorgeous week to kick off the official harvest, a full two weeks later than average.  The Champenoise must be happy to have the beautiful weather perhaps wishing though that it had come sooner.

Last Week's Forecast

West Chiltington, UK

The weather looks to be fairly decent in the southern UK as well, with the rains moving in a day earlier of course, but plenty of sun and warmth in the forecast.

Last Week's Forecast

Bolzano, Italy

It turns a little cool towards the end of the week in the Alto-Adige but otherwise the weather looks pretty typical for this week in Europe.

Last Week's Forecast

Taormina, Italy

Perfection.

Napa and Sonoma got rain over the weekend--a quick burst, and it looks like it could be fine, but the timing was not favorable. Looking like a nice week ahead and we should see harvests wrapping up over the next two weeks, if I had to guess.
