You can live vicariously through the extraordinary creations from the brand’s 2012 Storyteller Experience, debuting on the DaVinci Wine Facebook page.
In July, four chosen Storytellers (a cookbook author, a food blogger, a photographer and an illustrator) traveled to Tuscany to help tell DaVinci Wine’s fascinating story. Beginning in the winery’s hometown of Vinci (birthplace of Leonardo) and moving on to the storybook hillside town of Montalcino—and spanning every sun-dappled vineyard in between—the journey offered Storytellers the chance to experience the culture behind the wine.
The intrepid travelers also learned about the brand’s acclaimed Chianti, Pinot Grigio and Brunello di Montalcino varietals along the way.
“The Storyteller Experience is really our way of allowing authentic storytellers from different backgrounds and disciplines to experience the people and place behind our wine,” says Courtney O'Brien, Director of Marketing for DaVinci Wine. “How they choose to represent their time in Tuscany is entirely up to them, while their works truly become a reflection of our rich culture and history.”
Now in its second year, the DaVinci Storyteller Experience has become a fan favorite. Each year, the Experience recruits artists, writers, photographers and chefs to join the storied Italian wine brand for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Tuscany.
Three Storytellers were selected by DaVinci after an intense application process on Facebook earlier this year. The fourth and final Storyteller selection was left to the brand’s fan base, who awarded the coveted Fan’s Choice spot to a professional illustrator.
The 2012 DaVinci Storytellers include:
• Mark Leslie (Language Arts): Author of an Italian culinary memoir, this Alabama-based theater professional was on familiar ground with DaVinci, documenting his experience in narrative, video and a few recipes at Beyond the Pasta.
• Jade Sheldon (Visual Arts): This Oregon-based photographer captured sunflower fields, sunsets, tablescapes and wine growers with breathtaking detail and atmosphere.
• Cathi Iannone (Culinary Arts): A creator of mouthwatering Italian dishes at The Brooklyn Ragazza, Iannone was inspired to pair DaVinci with an array of authentic Tuscan recipes.
• Michelle Kondrich (Fan’s Choice): Truly a fan favorite, this Denver-based illustrator turned reality to fantasy and back to reality again with dreamlike watercolors of the DaVinci world.
