Patton is over rated. Mostly marketing hype. Most high end establishments in Mexico do not even carry Patron.

you are so right about Patron being overrated...there are 100's of great tequilas out there...Don Julio for starters

  • patron is very good along with avion tequila which won a dbl gold at the San Francisco tasting.A dbl gold is when all 10 judges pick the product first.
Picked up both at the Party Source for under 40$.

  • Ok, so there are 100's of great Tequillas out there (been through many), in the cases of at least 70 percent of the bars I've been in ,Patron is by far best. Marketing hype wears off eventually and Patrons been out there for a good bit now and still garners a 6 dollar per shot tag, and even honest bartenders will still lead you to it.

The Olmeca website says that regular Olmeca blanco, as pictured, is a mixto, that the Olmeca Altos is the 100%. Which one is the winner?

Hi Qorki! This list includes mixtos, so the blanco (as pictured) is the winner. Hope this helps!

But the description is "Olmeca Plata, 100% Agave Tequila Mexico, 40%, 95pts", so if it's a mixto then the 100% Agave is an error, and if it's 100% agave then the photo of the bottle is in error. Sorry to nitpick but it's so hard to find this tequila, different stores carry only one version or the other (most carry neither)!
