This first set of wines were taken from the value category of Snooth’s inaugural People’s Voice Wine Awards. I've listed them in decreasing order of the number of votes they received. You could say that wine no. 1 is both the winner in its category and the most popular wine on Snooth, based on the tens of thousands of votes that have brought us here.
This has been an exciting experience for all of us here at Snooth, and we hope you find it just as interesting and valuable. So, without further ado, Snooth’s top value wines of 2012, with winemakers’ notes attached.
Congratulation to all the winners!

Chardonnay - Value
Kendall Jackson Chardonnay
Beautifully integrated tropical flavors such as pineapple, mango, and papaya with citrus notes that explode in your mouth. These flavors delicately intertwine with aromas of vanilla and honey to create depth and balance throughout. A hint of toasted oak rounds out the long, lingering finish.
Other Red - Value
This Petit Sirah has typical notes of boysenberry with touches of black pepper and herbs. The palate is inky and jammy with ripe fruit and berries, and finishes with toasty oak and firm tannins.
Red Blends - Value
Cupcake Red Velvet
Red Velvet shows an incredible nose of chocolate, deep rich blackberries, red fruits and a creamy mocha finish that is unmistakable in its intensity and length. Our Red Velvet is a blend of Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It's reminiscent of a blackberry chocolate cupcake with a mocha coulis.
Grenache and Blends - Value
Bright plum with magenta hues, it has lifted forest berry fruits with hints of liquorice and spice. Plum and dark fruit from the Shiraz are complemented by the raspberries, red cherries and spice from the Grenache, creating a rich compote of flavours on the palate. These flavours are balanced on the palate by the chalky Mourvèdre tannins that provide a slightly savoury finish that lingers long after the wine is consumed. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
Cabernet Sauvignon - Value
Columbia Crest Two Vines Cabernet Sauvignon
This minimally oaked Cabernet Sauvignon presents fruit-forward aromas and flavors of slight cherry and blueberry throughout the wine; it balances out with fruit, soft oak, and hints of coca on the lingering finish.
Zinfandel - Value
Peachy Canyon Zinfandel "Incredible Red"
Bright fruit mild acid and an elegant finish make it a very food-friendly wine that is reasonably priced.
Riesling - Value
Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards Riesling
A perfect companion to the fall harvest season, this easy-drinking Riesling is evocative of candied apples and warm apple pie spice. There's not a lot of complexity, but it's light and fresh in the mouth with a puckery lime and sour patch candy finish.
