Those Casillero del Diablo wines, available at Trader Joe's for around $8, are a fantastic value. Their Carmenere is very possibly my favorite of that varietal, and I've tasted through a bunch at different, often higher prices. I'm going to break down and try the Pine Ridge, which I've been toying with, based on this recommendation. The "People's Choices" do reflect the market familiarity to a degree, but I do want to commend Mark West for their solid PNs, and Columbia Crest for some fantastic values in Cab. Muga's Rose was among the best I had this year, and the Campo Viejo is a decent introduction to Tempranillo, although there are others like Protocolo, Monte Real and others that are as deserving. Spain is value central and could dominate a list of 25 value wines all by itself if the categories were open-ended.

The Pine Ridge is medium to full-bodied and smoky, so I recommend having it with food.
Columbia Crest is a favorite value brand of a few of the better-known sommeliers in my area and for the price the wines are definitely good.
I love Dry Creek Vineyards. Their Fume Blanc as well as their Chenin Blanc & Heritage Zinfandel certainly over-deliver on the price point and the folks at the winery are super nice.
