2010 Chateau Haut Terrasson Bordeaux 13.5% $16

55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Very fresh on the nose with herb and raw oak aromas adding some detail to red currant, raspberry and plum fruit. There's an herbal perfume to this that precedes the first sip, adding a lovely counterpoint to the red currant and red cherry fruit that the wine offers up. The light vanilla and cocoa nuances on the palate add a touch of perceived sweetness here, though the oak and some earthy mushroom notes help to balance that out. This finishes tight and mineral with a bit of tarragon and herb along with fine grained wood tannins underpinning the black currant fruit. A lovely little Bordeaux that should improve over the short term, 2 to 3 years. 87pts

Interesting how Washington represents here. They do very nice blends at great prices. I've become a big fan.

Washington is doing some greet work these days, too bad many of the wines are not widely distributed.

MrWinelover, there's a lot of great resources here on Snooth, and keep trying wines, it's the best way to learn!

  • You might want to try Bogle Phantom at $ 15.99 in Cherry Hill, NJ. It's a blend of Old vine zin, old vine mourvedre and petite syrah. Their petite S and Old vine zin are standalone winners around $ 8 and embarrassingly low priced for the quality delivered.

Coppola Rosso is a blend that varies contents each year, they used to publish what is in it, but they no longer do. It is rather raw, but with 3 yrs of aging, it becomes a lovely Italianesque wine, but with more body.
