Hillinger’s “Sleeper” Obsession

The Austrians are a funny people, peculiar even. And while Leo Hillinger’s exquisite little winery really is an exceptional integration of man and nature, I can’t help but think of the Woody Allen movie, “Sleeper”!

I can almost imagine that there are, in fact, giant mutant chickens running around outside the winery; but the real question has to be: Where is the Orgasmatron?

Interesting article was surprised that the Frank Gehry designed hotel at Marques de Riscal was not included. http://www.arcspace.com/architects/... Like it or hate it's pretty cool.

Actually, brightcomb, Marques de Riscal IS a winery. It happens to be one of the oldest in the Rioja region of Spain. Check out the link provided by curiousky. A point can be made for its inclusion on the list.

  • Interesting choices, although I personally feel that Darouish reminds me of "Disney meets Fry's Electronics". All this foofery while charging you $65 for a bottle of average wine. At least you can't say it's boring.

Of a list for "top... of the world" it was a little CA heavy, but that said, some owned by foreigners haha.

Castello di Amorosa is deserving of consideration as well.

  • Pretty sure Greg included Dominus in a previous edition...best winery building in California for sure. And yes, the Clos Pegase building is a postmodern atrocity.
