At the heart of Toro lies the Numanthia estate, named in honor of a legendary city of antiquity whose inhabitants chose death over surrender to the invading legions of Rome. Likewise, the robust, gnarled vines of Numanthia have steadfastly resisted the assaults of time, extreme climactic variations and the phylloxera plague. Hewn by nature, steeped in history, these vines channel their strength, resiliency and spirit into the singular Tinta de Toro grape. Numanthia's precise, handcrafted winemaking techniques reveal the essence of Tinta de Toro, yielding powerful wines of great character and generosity.

The foundation of the Numanthia range is the production and selection of the best grapes from the Toro terroir. Grapes from low yielding old vines, 50 years and older, are picked at optimal ripeness when they are intensely fruity and concentrated. Winemaking then consists of extracting their full potential, particularly the intense fruit flavors that are typical of the Tinta de Toro grape, as well as structure and elegance. This approach is common to the wines produced, each having its own particular style.

Termanthia – The Treasure of the Toro

Transforming these grapes into wine is a matter of hand-crafting excellence. The hyper-concentrated fruit produces considerable aromatic complexity and shows tremendous power on the palate with plenty of fleshy roundness.

Overall, the wine shows as much elegance and precision as intensity. This is a wine that will keep very well, gaining even more complexity in bottle.

Numanthia – The Estate’s Signature

Numanthia style relies on a selection of exceptional old vineyards (more than 50 years old), of unirrigated, ungrafted vines. These naturally low yielding vines deliver extremely concentrated grapes year after year, with intense fruit and structure.

The results are glorious fruit flavors and very complex aromas. Solidly built, with tannins that are both clear-cut and well integrated, Numanthia shows both power and precision.

Termes – The Toro Signature

The Termes vineyards are selected for their vibrant fruit expression, intense and lively, so characteristic of the Tinta de Toro in its best terroir. The grapes are picked at optimal ripeness.
The result is a wine revealing a classy and lively aroma, rich and complex, with abundant fruity notes with nicely integrated cedar and toasty characters.
