Focusing on Grenache

Great Discovery from Monsant

I taste almost everyday, usually a case at a time, and some days can be rather plodding with familiar labels and familiar wines. Then there are days like today, when out of those 14 bottles, two stood out and they came from the same producer, which is always a great sign.

I reallt enjoyed both of these wines, from a producer called Pinyolet, who is new to me. Check out these two impressive wines!

I've not been overwhelmed by Valdemar's wines, but that Garnacha sounds worth a try.

Slightly off topic. Got a wonderful 2004 a while back from one of on line retailers. Ondarre Reserva Rioja. ended up buying two cases, and before then hadn't really liked Spanish wines. Best of all the price was something like $11 a bottle. If you can find it, grab it up. Full bodied, assume it was tempranillo blend, much fuller bodied than most inexpensive Rioja.
Been trying French and Spanish Grenache blends, and some 100% grenache. Just started because I had high school and college memories of Almaden grenache rose that was so dreadful didn't knowingly touch grenache until a few years ago. There is so much good wine in so many varietals and blends from all around the world that we have so many great wines to try. Ain't wine wonderful!
