Cointreau Liqueur Best for Cocktails In this week's edition of our Ultimate Beverage Challenge coverage, we bring you the liqueur-based cocktail category. For this round, judges chose to focus on orange liqueurs only, providing an even field for judging. Three classic orange liqueur-based cocktails were tasted, the Margarita, the Sidecar and the Cosmopolitan. Interestingly, Cointreau Liqueur earned the Chairman's Trophy as top-scoring alcohol tasted for each of the three cocktails made, a first in the competition results.   • Could it be, that only Cointreau, Bols and Combier were in the challenge?
    To be honest, the recipes are not very liqueur driven - I would not add agave nectar or simple syrup to a classic Margarita or Sidecar! The liqueur is sweet enough...

    I am usually a fan of Padrón Citrónge. Well - Cointreau is a bit crisper - the Citrónge is a bit fruitier - but for cocktails they are for me on the same level...

    I haven't tried Combier - but Bols is horrible! What is about the Giffard's, Cartron's etc.?

    It smells fishy for me... It seems, that people manipulated the competition towards the obvious...

    It seems so very odd to me that only Cointreau, Combier, and Bols are listed in this Challenge. Were other brands used that didn't place? Was Grand Marnier not used because you don't consider it a true triple sec? What about Luxardo Triplum, Citronge, and Gran Gala? Aren't these worthy of inclusion and ranking on the Beverage Challenge website? These challenges leave me mystified EVERY time...
