18 cellarable wines to watch for

The Best of Bordeaux and Burgundy To Buy Today With so many great wines out there it is difficult to know most and impossible to know them all. What follows are wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy that I have enjoyed over the years. These are excellent values in today’s market and make sense for both the neophyte as well as the experienced collector.

Each wine or producer makes a wine that exemplifies what can be achieved in its respective appellation and does so while offering wares at very attractive prices. I’m not saying these are the best, or even the best values, simply that these are good values with proven track records. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

I saw some Ch. Haut Brion and Margaux both from 1997 available for about $250-260/bottle. I believe that the 1996 vintage was much better. But are the 1997 worth picking up at all? I was thinking about buying only one bottle for a special occasion. Perhaps a 2005 Bordeaux from Boyd-Cantenac and others might be a better in terms of flavor. Any recommendations?
