Day 12

Domaine A.F. Gros Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits 2014
Lastly, we come upon a great jewel of the Côtes de Nuits – lovingly grown Pinot Noir at higher altitudes, expressing one of the best of Bourgogne at its price point. The "Hautes" in Hautes-Côtes de Nuits is an indication of high slopes. The vines are cultivated on two plateaus between 300 and 400 meters above sea level. Pleasantly floral, herbal and earthy aromas of cherry, savory berry and mineral earth on the nose with notes of roasted plum and toasted oak. On the palate this is ripe and fresh with a restrained palate of cranberry and cherry fruit with strawberry must and tart spice warming the mid palate. A finish of breezy mineral driven earth notes and chewy tannins add some depth and complexity to this - great fruit, approachability and zestiness. 91 pts. SRP: $35.

  • Nice article, but would be truly helpful if buying opportunities were included. Where can we purchase these wines?

I had the Cremant di Bourgogne many years ago and truly enjoyed it.
It is impossible to find in the Rhode Island and ct. area. Even though these are not expensive, the distribution in this area is terrible.
