Day 11

Domaine Francois Lumpp Givry  1er Cru La Brûlée 2015
Premier Cru (or '1er Cru' as you will see on this bottle) is an indication of quality in Bourgogne. Just one tenth of wines produced in Bourgogne receive the 1er Cru distinction. Givry is part of the Côte Chalonnaise, known for deeply adored Pinot Noir wines that can be both aged and enjoyed young. Notes of black cherry and dried prune on the nose with a dry, dusty hint of earthen clay and mixed candied berry. On the palate this continues to carry a complex blend of fruit - boysenberry, blueberry and black cherry with thick, resinous birch root flavors and sticky tannins. Turns a bit red fruited towards the finish with a bold acidity of fresh cranberry. SRP: $34.

  • Nice article, but would be truly helpful if buying opportunities were included. Where can we purchase these wines?

I had the Cremant di Bourgogne many years ago and truly enjoyed it.
It is impossible to find in the Rhode Island and ct. area. Even though these are not expensive, the distribution in this area is terrible.
