Terlato Family Vineyards

Four Generations of Quality

Dedicated

The Terlato Family Vineyards selection of wines is produced by Anthony Terlato and his sons, Bill and John. It’s a collection made throughout the top regions of California - Stags Leap, Rutherford, Sonoma and Napa Valley. They are based on Tony and his family’s vision and passion for quality and are made with noble grape varietals and classic blends, expressing the best of these areas.
The story of these wines is really the story of family and a dream fulfilled. For over 40 years, Tony Terlato has brought world class wines to the United States. In his quest for always finding the best, he could never talk about wine without talking about how wine fit in with food. He has participated in all levels of the wine business from retailer to distributor to marketing/importing agent. Finally, in 1996, he became a vineyard owner and producer. Much of this business he has learned from his father, Salvatore Terlato, and his father-in-law, Tony Paterno. He has been able to pass on that knowledge to his sons, Bill and John and now to his granddaughter, Jo. For Tony, it’s always been about family, quality and creating traditions that could be passed down generation to generation.

This week we are highlighting our Pinot Grigio 2009 and Pinot Noir 2007. These wines are the perfect selection for summer – whether going on a picnic, grilling out or simply sitting on your deck as you enjoy the warm weather. The 2009 Pinot Grigio is grown in the Russian River Valley and it is no surprise that it finds such a beautiful expression here, in a place well known for its top quality Pinot Noir. Pinot Grigio actually resembles Pinot Noir until veraison (the transition from berry growth to berry ripening). This Pinot Grigio has all the intrigue, complexity and flavor interest of Pinot Noir. Lively and fresh with flavors of granny smith apple, stone fruits, and a core of minerality with a mouthwatering, crisp, clean finish. The 2007 Pinot Noir is Burgundian in style with an elusive aroma of violets, raspberries and strawberries. It has a light, nicely acidic balance. Well-integrated tannins lead to a long, silky smooth finish.

Terlato Family Vineyards also produces the following wines: Chardonnay, Syrah, a single block Syrah, a Cabernet Sauvignon produced in Rutherford and a Cabernet Sauvignon produced in the Stags Leap District. Three wines are made to emulate and honor the areas of Saint-Émilion, Pomerol and Margaux in Bordeaux. They are Angels’ Peak, Devils’ Peak and Cardinals’ Peak. In 2001, Tony released the first vintage of Episode, a blend of the classic Bordeaux grapes, grown from the very best Napa Valley fruit including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. And, finally, there is Galaxy – a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot.
