Terlato Family Vineyards

Four Generations of Quality

This month, Terlato Family Vineyards is featuring their classic Chardonnay, an authentic expression of the Russian River Valley.

The Terlato family name brings over 60 years of experience in the fine wine industry and the wines from Terlato Family Vineyards illustrate the family’s commitment and passion for world-class wine for four generations. They carefully select vineyards from the most esteemed viticultural areas of California for each noble varietal, and handcraft only a limited amount of each wine.

Tony Terlato first fell in love with wine when he worked in his father Salvatore’s wine shop in Chicago in the 1950s. Because Salvatore believed that a focus on quality would always succeed, his shop featured the greatest wines of the world and Tony discovered the finesse and elegance that Chardonnay was capable of achieving in the Grands Cru of Burgundy.  When Tony fulfilled his youthful dream to make his own wine with sons Bill and John, they set their sights high and brought their experience with the world’s most important producers as a model for their namesake label.
Terlato Family Vineyards Chardonnay is the wine that’s opened the most at the peak of summer around the family table.  The grapes are grown about 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean where the cool morning fogs slow the fruit development allowing for more complex flavors at harvest. The Terlato team ferments and ages the delicate juice in 100% French oak, but ensures the oak statement plays in the background, not interfering with the purity of flavor. This balanced Chardonnay truly shines when paired with seafood such as scallops or fresh crab or with the subtly earthy flavors of wild mushrooms and leek or the sweetness of fresh grilled corn.

The Terlato Family Vineyards' Chardonnay truly reflects Salvatore’s legacy, a focus on quality first, with only about 3,000 cases made each vintage available in only the finest retailers and restaurants around the country.

Tasting notes: Classic straw-yellow color with an aroma of Dutch apple pie, spice and nutmeg. On the palate, the wine has a creamy texture with a balanced acidity and lingering mineral finish.
