#GTiSangiovese Begins!

Come explore this fantastic grape

We’re moving on to Sangiovese for our next Global Tasting Initiative. I honestly can not say that there are many more grapes I’m interested in exploring today. Of course, I’ve just tasted some fine Syrah, not to mention Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. You know what I mean if you’ve been following my adventures!

Now it’s back to something comfortable and familiar. Sangiovese in all its guises. Chianti, Vino Nobile, Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino, not to mention the myriad of wines from all over the West Coast, will take their bows over the next two weeks.

I’ll be pulling together articles about aging Sangiovese, Super Tuscan wines, a vintage chart for Tuscany, and traveling and dining tips, all brought together under the #GTiSangiovese banner.

That’s what the Global Tasting Initiative is all about! It’s about taking the time to really get to know a grape and then sharing as much as possible with as many as possible. So join me over the next two weeks as we get to know one of my favorite, all around fabulous, food-friendliest grapes around!

Awesome, my 2006 Ragnaie has just arrived, but notes indicate I should wait. I'll "taste along with the pros" by opening a 2000 Terralsole, or maybe another 2004 delle Cerbaie or Poggio Salvi, and compare those with the only Cal Sangio I have liked, the Two Mile... say, doesn't sangio have some aphrodisiac powers, too?

That's great folks! That Ragnaie is an interesting bottle fox. Can't wait to hear your thoughts. Check out my review of Two Mile in today's email.

I must be on some kind of Snooth brain implant. I just did a Sangiovese v. Chianti matchup last weekend. I didn't know that the GTI was swtiching to Sangiovese or that the Castello di Bossi would be on the Top 5 Chianti list. Here is how the di Bossi matched up with the Covington Cellars Sangiovese from Washington
