Tourism, art, history, music, cuisine, culture, olive-tree dotted hillsides, dusky amethyst sunsets, ancient ruins, wine. When one thinks of Tuscany, it is inevitable that a glass of Chianti makes its way into the picture.

An iconic symbol of Italy’s rich agricultural and cultural history, Chianti has developed from an ancient tradition to a modern, versatile wine that needs to be tasted and savored to be fully understood and appreciated.

You may think you are familiar with Chianti, possibly from romantic movies or maybe from seeing those straw-wrapped bottles hanging from your favorite restaurant’s ceiling. While those bottles are a valued party of Chianti’s history, they are just that. Today’s Chianti offers consumers an amazing array of styles that stretches beyond its simple-seeming, utilitarian origins, but the only way to know for sure is to try them for yourself!

As a Snooth member we want to extend an exclusive offer: complimentary access that will allow you to experience Chianti for yourself. Join over 40 producers for a series of tastings in New York City and San Francisco and experience what Chianti is today.

There is a Chianti-loving quotation that says, “Leave it to the Italians to make a wine that is good for breakfast, good for lunch, good for dinner and still be suitable for celebrations.”

In this case, every word is true. Chianti is a versatile wine, capable of being enjoyed in many different ways. The regional differences due to terroir, climate and producer style greatly influence the taste of the wines, so it cannot be assumed that once you’ve tasted one Chianti, you’ve tasted them all.

The heart of Chianti, denoted as to D.O.C.G.  (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita), is an area of approximately 38,000 acres divided into seven sub-appellations: Colli Aretini, Colli Fiorentini, Colli Senesi, Colline Pisani, Montalbano, Montespertoli and Rùfina. Each zone has its own production laws and standards, though Chianti can be produced in any of them.  The regional and stylistic differences make each sip of Chianti a unique and rich experience
