Preparing a Better Burger
The arrival of Umami Burger here in NYC is being treated by some like the lowering of the lifeboats from the Titanic! People of age have been taking to social media to not only tout their early adopter status of Umami Burger, which is what a willingness to wait on line gets you, but have been showing off their chops by making comparisons to the older west coast outposts, thereby establishing an even deeper level of burger cred.
Now I'm not here to bash Umami Burgers, I've had them and they are delicious, but no better than what I can do in my own backyard, where the lines are surprisingly short. This is not a new sensation; I pass by Shake Shack with some regularity and there are still lines of people waiting for burgers there on any given day. Now I know we don't all have access to a grill, but with a broiler, a grill pan, and some thought and consideration put into selecting your raw ingredient you might be surprised what you, yes you can create in the comfort of your own home. Of course you will have to clean up after yourself, and therein lies my willingness to wait in line, once in awhile! So let these fun recipes inspire your inner master burger slinger this weekend.

    Just kidding, that was a joke.

    I had two lined up for the article but I got side tracked. I'll be publishing a series of articles about vegetarian food and wine starting in just a couple of weeks. Today I'm having a meat free Friday with greek salad and fresh mozzarella for lunch, with some wickedly spicy gazpacho to start and some gorgeous ratatouille over rice on deck for dinner. Truth is I'm eating less and less meat so I sympathize more and more with the veggie burger eaters out there!

    Nyuck nyuck. We vegetarians/vegans are used to the "ribbing" (literally and figuratively) of you carnivorous ilk.

    Your dinner sounds fabulous. Yes, there are so very many faux meats out there -- and tons to say about the wine that goes with them! I'd love to see more vegetarian-themed articles on Snooth. Looking forward to your thoughts.
