Enjoy the August 2010 Perseid Metero Shower
Three wines to have by your side!
With the event referred to as the Perseid meteor shower in full swing I though I would just throw out a few suggestions for the best way to enjoy this natural spectacle. In fact my suggestions will work just fine for any meteor shower, be it the Perseid, Leonid, Geminids, you name what you need to enjoy a good meteor shower is pretty simple!
Tonight is the peak night for the Perseids though so lets make the most of this annual August meteor shower, shall we?
Of course around here what we're thinking of, besides a comfortable blanket to lie on (and a loved one to lay with!) is a good bottle of wine.
Our top suggestion? Glad you asked. It would have to be a Shooting Star wine! Shooting Star is a label known for solid, value priced wines from Steele wines. My favorite, hands down, is their absolutely delicious Lemberger (AKA Blau Frankisch)! It's a crisp, crunchy red wine full of easy to enjoy ripe fruits and a nice bit of spice
If you're more in the mood for a white, try the Shooting Star Riesling, just a little off-dry and full of lipsmackingly good fruit.
Both of these would be perfect with a picnic basket, which I neglected to mention earlier. If you gonna lay out for half the night watching meteors streaming by you might get a little peckish, so pack what you want and you can feel comfortable with a bottle of Shooting Star in there.
Not your speed, than why not enjoy the Perseid Meteor shower of August 2010 with a bottle of Napa valley's own meteor wine. No really! It's an estate bottled Cabernet Sauvignon from Meteor Vineyards, and while I have never tried the wine how could you pass up the chance to watch meteor showers with a real bottle of Meteor! After checking the price on this one I hope someone else is buying!
OK, still not biting, well how about some Meteor white - Bright White in fact, or Bright Red from the White Fences winery of Virginia. Actually if you ask me a bottle of their Meteor Glow sounds about perfect for my evening laying on a cashmere blanket with my sweetheart as we enjoy a picnic of poached lobster, crab legs, and some Spanish ham! If I'm the one making the recommendations they might as well be spectacular, just like the Persied meteor showers promise to be!
