Dining With Mauro and Giuseppe Mascarello

With the big Spring tastings underway I am fortunate to be able to visit with some of my favorite winemakers. This week Mauro and Giuseppe Mascarello of Giuseppe Mascarello were in town and I took advantage of the occasion to put together a vertical tasting of their single vineyard Monprivato Barolo with a few additional bottles thrown in for good measure. The wines performed brilliantly, as expected, across a broad range of variable vintages. If you are interested in trying world class Barolo at some very reasonable prices I would recommend a recent vintage that was challenging but produced some very fine wines in the hands of skilled wine-makers: Mauro and Giuseppe Mascarello!

$69.95
A beauty of a wine from one of the greatest vineyards in Piedmont with a proven track record of producing amazingly complex, age worthy wine year in and year out. This is on the precocious side and should reach its peak rather quickly. Drinking remarkably well already.
