Pairing Wine with Burger King

Oops, I did it again.

I ate too much food, this time from the King.
Thinking about each bottle and its perfect pairing.
Trying to find the magic that’s lurking within,
Each Whopper, each chicken fry and each onion ring.

So what did I learn and why should you care?
Wines paired with Burger King

Check out the wine pairings with your favorite Burger King offerings.

Well, assumptions abound when there’s someone around,
But sitting at your table a good match can be found.
When you open your mind and chow that 1/4 pound,
The recommendations of fools seem like words of a clown.

The bottom line is this, and a little of that,
When pairing your wines take account of the fat.
The spice and the richness, and of course where you’re at,
But ignore all the naysayers, the haters, the experts, and rats.

It’s not about them, or proving them right,
It’s about one moment in your busy life.

One moment when maybe you’re not eating as you might,
A moment of stress, or ease, or to avoid a fight.
It doesn’t have to be just a moment that night,
A bottle of wine could make it all right.

These pairings that I’ve found, I found that I like.
They’re not always perfect,
They may not make sense,
But they made my lunch better so here’s my 2 cents.

Eat what you can and drink what you like,
You’ll never be wrong and always be right.
If you follow your palate and be true to your tastes,
You’ll never need an expert or the wines that he rates.

Well, you know I won't be quitting my day job.

I just penned this little ditty to try and introduce another layer of fun here. I have fun with my work and I'm lucky I get to do what I get to do! I also take an inordinate amount of heat for my work, and articles like this in particular. I have been told that I am making a mockery of food and wine pairings, that I am not taking wine seriously enough, and that I am denigrating the work of winemakers by pairing their wines with fast food.

To all my critics I say: Bugger off!

Wine should be fun.

Wine should be paired with whatever people want to pair it with.

We should not judge people by what they eat and drink.

DRC and Ortolan doesn't make you superior!

OK, mini rant over. I know you're all curious about what wines I paired with Burger King's menu and how they fared, so get all the details at: Answering the age-old question: What to pair with Burger King? but please remember to fast food responsibly.

I liked this little intro. I'll confess, I was thinking you must be made of Teflon to write about BK when McD got such a negative response (not from me) in the comments. It's like you say, to each his own.

And you're just a writer, not a legislator. Write about BK all you want; it'll probably be entertaining and it won't make it the law for all of us to do the same pairings! :)
So maybe all of us shouldn't protest and cry foul as if it were the case, eh? I'll answer: eh.

I love the song! what bit did you have in mind when you were writing! So cool, and well said:

Excellent! I love fine wines, but hate wine snobs. You speak the truth. In the wine world, there is not enough of that!

  • with BK hmms I don't get to eat their much. I would say something that has a bit of kick with it. Wash it down with a burst of good flavor. I would eat it with my little good bottle of tawny port but honestly as much as I like the one I got i'd drink it with about anything lol. Hell don't really matter what you eat with your wine as long as you enjoy it. Your enjoyment is key don't worry about anyone else. I myself eat my spaghetti with my sutter home moscato wine. I had velveta block cheese in my spaghetti washing it down with that wine. It all came together for a really wonderful meal. In the end its all about enjoyment not what some judgemental jack a** down the street thinks because he thinks his crap smells like roses. Just enjoy it and enjoy it with a smile. You do that and you really taste the spirit of the wine.

  • I believe you're right. If you like it, its good. That is the perfect argument for some of the hybrid wine grapes. There is way too much criticism of hybrid grape wines by people who haven't even tried them. Wine isn't about ego. Its about living well, enjoying life. A good hybrid wine is always better than a mediocre vinifera wine.
