Taste Washington, March 23-24

For the all around epicurean there is no better event in the Pacific Northwest than Taste Washington, where chefs, winemakers, and consumers come together in a smorgasbord of gourmet love. This is an event that features wine and food, but there are also seminars and tastings of craft beers and ciders and displays of glassware. This is a great event, one in which both the geek and the casual indulger will be well provided for!

Find out more at Taste Washington.

Here's to GDP, who does for New World wines what Gandhi did for outcaste Indians. I live in a very green land which is a wine desert : alcohol is prohibited.... by law. So it needs a phone call to procure a case of wine (Diplo plonk, of course) delivered within the hour by your ever-obliging bootlegger, these days @ about $160 the dozen. It's much more cost-effective to stick to Scotch & Vodders for the sundown haze, now about $400 the doz. My point is, I've tasted the best wines of Euroland at the very chateaux & bodegas & cantinas, and there's nothing to beat that. HOWEVER, thanks to GDP, I do want to make a last trip to the New World to sample the product thereof. CHEERS !!!

  • If you're in the mood for Pinot Noir, head to the charming town of Campbell, CA (in the Silicon Valley) on Sunday, March 24 for "Pinot Paradise," a celebration of all the vintners who make Pinot Noir from the Santa Cruz Mountains. It's a rare chance to get all 30 plus wineries who make SCMtns Pinot in the same room, accompanied by lots of great food from local restaurants. It's at Villa Ragusa in Campbell. Taste Pinots from Alfaro, Big Basin Vineyards, Burrell School, House Family, Mount Eden, Thomas Fogarty and Windy Oaks, to name a few. It's positively a Pinotmersion! :>
