What your favorite characters will be drinking this season

Mad Men Cocktails After a long hiatus, the much-anticipated fifth season of AMC’s TV series Mad Men is finally here this Sunday, March 25!

This retro chic drama is well known for its boozy backdrops, with characters seen imbibing at all hours and locations. Legions of devoted fans are known to mix cocktails as they “play along” at home, and there are even venues which hold bibulous Mad Men viewing parties.

The show first began in the late 1950s, when drinks and cocktails were still very much in their classic state and it was customary, expected even, to drink at the [smoke-filled] office. We are all familiar with Don Draper’s Old Fashioned fixation and intrepid Peggy drinking everything from Brandy Alexanders to Stingers as she blazes her way in the workplace. Who can forget little Sally Draper stirring up Tom Collins for the adults at a dinner party? And there is always that decanter of Scotch at the ready.

The action now is moving through the next decade, and this season opens in 1966. We obviously can’t wait to see how our favorite characters move into the groove, but we’re also wondering what they might be drinking with the changing times. Here are a few 1966-inspired cocktails to make at home while you watch the drama unfold.

(though why 007 preferred his booze bruised from shaking is a bigger mystery than where the top secret decoding machine was hidden)

Not sure if you are kidding here or not. It was for his pleasure. He liked his martini's shaken because the females jiggled more in the breast area than simply if they stirred a mixed drink.
