Ready for duty on Valentine’s Day

King Estate

Smoky, earthy and intense on the nose with layers of forest floor, wild berry, and smoldering dry herb aromas. Bright and juicy on entry, then softening on the well integrated mid-palate. The fruit here is on the lighter side with a core of wild raspberry and some almost watermelon like streaks of freshness. There's a touch of vanilla and some subtle baking spice notes with a little bay leaf as this flows onto a fruity and fairly well structured finish. The finish grows to reveal beautiful lacy tannins supporting slightly spicy mushroom and mineral aspects that fade into a burnished cherry and dried orange peel finale. A bit subtle and fairly light bodied, though with attractive and nuanced complexity. 91pts
