What Grows When

Some of my favorite wines are based on Petite Sirah, or include Petite Sirah, a grape that is ideally suited to the growing conditions in Lodi. Unlike Petite from other regions, Lodi Petite Sirah tends to be large-scaled and polished. The season here starts early and tends to finish on the early side, further illustrating the heat accumulation that is the predominant feature of the local climate, which allows for Lodi to be one of the main sources for Petite Sirah, but also for Chardonnay.
