Introducing 2010 Tuscany
Another vintage of the decade but this time we’re serious!
A few wines from Tre Bicchieri
What a youthful wine but already showing remarkable finesse, power, clarity and freshness. This is going to be fabulous in a couple of years and will warrant a score in the mid to high 90s.
Savory, earthy, and oily, with a fresh nose for the vintage. Full of ripe fruit with dried edges that remains bright with the help of vibrant acids. Bit of orange peel on the finish this is a bit precocious but a win for the vintage. 90-93
Smokey on the nose with lovely red fruit aromas. This is quite transparent and red fruited on the palate, delivers some really big fruit underpinned with steely mineral notes that lend this fresh yet soft wine a touch of austerity. Classic Chianti. 88-91
Milk chocolate oak and rich fruit pop on this powerful nose rich with aromas of ink, blue flower and herbs. Smooth, broad and rich in the mouth with a base of Sangiovese covered in chocolate covered cherries and black currant herbs. This shows a deft balance of power, complexity and structure. 90-93
Saw dust, plum and rosemary greet the nose which smells a bit obviously woody. Tight in the mouth with finely polished tannins supporting flavors of strawberries and plums with light mineral accents on the long finish, plummy and a bit floral, really fine persistence. If I was less familiar with the trajectory I would be more underwhelmed with this but knowing how it ages this looks to be in fine shape. 89-92
