Move over to wine or, even better, beer. These lower alcohol drinks have all the firepower to get you wasted enough to make a fool out of yourself, but will probably help you remember making a fool out of yourself. So, switching to drinking lower alcohol drinks might also fuel a move to moderation.
While it’s easy to say that a shot has the same alcohol as a (weak) mixed drink, glass of wine or beer, the facts are that both beer and wine generally have more there. More there meaning more carbohydrates, tannins, acid and other things that might slow down your drinking as well as the absorption of alcohol by your body. There is also just more of them, so it gets even harder to compare throwing back a shot to downing 12 ounces of Milwaukee’s finest.
