I've used these two prong corkscrews for years when it comes to the broken and crumbling corks found in aged bottles of wine. That's what this tool is designed for and that's what it is good at, so don't think this is a great gift for anybody. It's a gift a true wine geek will appreciate and use, and as such you should splurge for the top of the line model. Yes, this pretty much works like all the other two-prong models, but it looks a lot cooler!
PS: This type of corkscrew was once called the "butler's friend" because with it you were a to remove a cork with almost no damage to the cork. This allowed for some unscrupulous butlers to take a nip and replace it with whatever it took to not get caught!
