The Smothers Brothers

Oddly enough, Pat Paulsen really exploded on the scene after being featured on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. And guess who is making wine. That’s right: Tommy Smothers, whose brother Dick founded the Smothers Winery in 1974! It’s now known as Remick Ridge.

This boutique winery has established a well-earned reputation for high quality wines. Production is tiny at around 500 cases, but the wines are worth a search!

  • James Judd and Son (also Cellar Full of Noise) in Paso Robles should be included in your funnymen of wine article. The father is a former ventriloquist and the son is a comedian with a very successful one-man show, "7 Sins".

While not the winemaker, Jeff Dunham collaborates with Dunham winery in Walla Walla for a series of wines based on his characters, and he should be included in this list.

  • "Wine is no joking matter" - certainly NOT the philosophy of the Sediment blog - perhaps the funniest writing about wine on the web. Or perhaps not. Try http://tinyurl.com/3xyv95w

20 Bees on the Niagara Peninsula is one of my faves and produces Dan's ice wines, Rieslings and other whites.
