Snooth’s West Coast Pinot Throw Down  Flight 2

Ripe but subdued on the nose though with plenty of alcohol showing, aromas are earthy, minty and oaky. Ripe and tannic in the mouth with lots of peppery, red hots like cinnamon spice over a base of slightly sweet red fruit. 80pts

Briary and a bit jammy on the nose with a nice bank of wood spice and red fruit, seems to have a bit of a nature yeast here, In the mouth this is soft with some nice spice and red fruit flavors but the alcohol is too obvious. 86pts

'10 Copain Kiser "En Bas" $60 Offers up a really complex nose with layers of tea leaves, a little fruit cake, raspberries, and a soft nuanced oak vein. Bright in the mouth with gorgeously pure and fresh raspberry fruit that shows impressive depth. This is elegant and faceted in the mouth, really lovely if it lacks the power that some might be looking for. 92pts My third place wine of the night.

Fine and focused and thought he nose is oak driven it's also complex with hints of juniper, sweet gum, and camphor that lends this real complexity. A little sweetly fruited in the mouth and subdued but at the same time this is complex, rich and long with plenty of lightly spiced cherry and strawberry fruit. It's a little sweet but very well balanced and pulls it off well. My second place wine of the night. 91pts

Gorgeous floral, crushed fruit and fine oak aromas on the nose but on the palate this is soft and easy going without enough fruit to buffer the alcohol. Probably falling apart. 84pts

Cola, herbs and black fruit greets the nose, this is a bit beefy and Syrah like with a popery edge. Extracted in the mouth with a little sweetness and a little alcohol throwing things out of balance. Seems like the fruit is fading leaving behind alcohol and oak. 83pts

Very threshold TCA, underneath one could feel there was something worth exploring.

Gorgeous fruit driven nose with sweet graham cracker accents to a core of black raspberry fruit. This is a little sweet in the mouth but it's got a cool, compact feel to it with nice tension on the midpalate though it does turn a bit jammy and alcoholic on the finish. 88pts
