Snooth’s West Coast Pinot Throw Down Flight 1
Funky, earthy curranty aromas with autumnal base notes. Bright acids and fine tannins support a fine core of earthy, mineral driven fruit, though the fruit is fading here leaving more of a coffee gringos expression on the long finish. Cool climate, mature and at peak. 89pt
A fair amount of oak on the nose lends this a cinnamon, gingery cast to the nose, but there's not much more than french oak there. Light bodied and deep on the palate, which is a bit simple but shows nice tension to the clear, acid driven raspberry and red currant fruit finishing with assertive minerality. 90pts
Smoky and earthy on the nose with integrated wood spice and a bit of red chili. Sweet and chunky in the mouth fruit and completely front loaded with a soft, short finish. 87pts
Spicy complex nose with fresh oak and a stemmy, slight vegetal streak layered under rather ripe fruit. Silky in the mouth with burnished raspberry fruit and a nice earthy base note that extended through the long finish. 88pts
Hugely ripe on the nose, simple, woody and jammy with obvious alcohol. Candied in the mouth with underlying dry tannins. This is undrinkable with too much of everything. Super fruity sweet, oaky and alcoholic but I know some folks like this style. 80pts
Stemmy and smoky on the nose which is fleshed out with herb framed dark berry fruit that has a lovely savory streak to it. Be fresh wild berry fruit. 91pts
Clean and focused on the nose with a bit of milky wood, some steamy notes and plenty of rocky minerality over a subtle base of fresh red fruits. Precise and focused int he mouth, this delivers pure, vibrant fruit on an elegant and polished framework. I love the balance here and the tannins are the most refined, ripest tannins of the night. Gorgeous wine. 93pts my WOTN.
Big creamy black cherry and fig driven nose. This is terrible, sweet, candied and acidic with an extracted feel and a long, sticky, treacle oaky finish. 76pts
