DIY Wine Cork and Bottle Crafts I'm a huge advocate of recycling wine bottles and corks. In fact, we reused several corks and bottles at my wedding as table number holders.

I once believed that there was a limit to the uses of used wine cork. It turns out, I was wrong. Some of the Internet's most creative DIY-ers are pushing the boundaries of crafts using wine cork, wine bottles and whatever else might be left over after a night of drinking.

As someone who searches the Web for wine-related stories more often than the average person (I'd suspect, anyhow), I've come across a lot of strange examples of wine cork or wine bottle DIY projects.

While I'm somewhat disturbed by these overzealous DIY-ers, I'm also kind of impressed. So, I decided to try my hand at a bit of DIY. Spoiler: it didn't turn out well.

I actually do save my corks and used them to make a serving tray. Thanks for the new ideas

My favorite recycling project I have seen is where someone cut the bottom off some bottles and made hanging lamps.

Some neat ideas. I was planning of making a bulletin board with my corks but not thinking of a back splash but I will need a lot more corks.

@lakenvelder, I love the backsplash idea! As you can see, I'm not so crafty so I'd be afraid to do it myself but I think it would look stellar. Let me know if you end up trying it out.

I've been collecting corks for a while - one day I will do something with them. I tried to start the tradition of writing the date and occasion or what we ate with the wine on the cork we opened that night, but didn't keep up with it.
