Cabrillo Kölsch

Golden Road Brewing, Los Angeles, California

The City of Angels is not typically known for producing high-quality craft beer -- even though the rest of California seem to have it covered (San Diego and San Francisco are brimming with amazing craft breweries). That said, since Golden Road opened in 2011, that hasn't been the case. The largest craft brewery in the city, Angeleno beer lovers have been drinking up their brews. Cabrillo is the result of the brewery's quest to make the perfect summery brew. Their version starts with that clean, fresh backbone but the addition of specially chosen ingredients add a slight peppery hint along with a touch of citrus.

This article is the biggest load of BS ever. Why you ask. For one Kolsch... real Kolsch can only come from KOLN, Germany, just like Champagne and Burgundy can only come from their respective regions. Snooth should do some research before spewing articles that make no sense and just make them look silly. This list should be Gaffel, Reisdorf, Sunner, and Fru all of which are from Koln. SMH

  • Hey Wortsup -- thanks for the comment. I actually did point that out in the opening paragraph. While yes, the Kolsch convention does state that Kolsch can only come from Koln, the style of beer has caught on with a lot of domestic breweries. Thanks again -- hope you keep reading.

Interestingly, just had a "Kolsch-style" beer from Alaska Brewing on my return trip from Alaska (on Alaska Airlines, of course!). Quite decent!
