There are many reasons for this and they range from marketing and regional biases to assured retail distribution channels. The bottom line is that you really need to taste before you buy if possible. Make sure you’ve done some research before plopping down $30 on any bottle. Check out the critics that you trust and then go to your trusted retailer. Let them know what you are looking for and see if they can pair you with a wine that suits your palate, not mine nor anyone else’s.
