2009 La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 13% $18
Soft and gently floral on the nose with reticent notes of pithy citrus fruits, tangelo and grapefruit, along with slow to emerge perfumey oak notes. This is rather seductive on the nose. Bright and light in the mouth, it does have a certain mouth-filling quality. The fruit is really transparent and fresh. The oak influence, while subtly adding spice to the wine, really seems to be about texture. Wonderfully balanced and fresh, the fresh citrus and sour apple fruit on the palate leads to a modest finish that ends with some block, if sweet and attractive wood tones. 89pts
