5 Unique Wine Grapes to Focus on this Fall
Breaking out of the routine with some exciting options for Autumn.
On its own Touriga Nacional is a bit lighter bodied than one might expect with attractive blue fruits and a lovely herbal spice edge all wrapped up in a medium to medium full frame that has a lovely balance of fresh tannins and acidity. Aveleda’s Follies Touriga Nacional is a budget priced version that over delivers. It’s an absolutely delicious introduction to the grape. To see what the grape is capable of a more structured version like Quinta do Crasto single vineyard examples can’t be beat, though I am hesitant to suggest you introduce yourself to a new variety with a $70 plus wine! A great introduction to a Touriga dominated blend on the other hand is in order and the Quinta do Crasto Douro Tinto has a good bit of Touriga Nacional contributing to its soft yet inky mid-plate.
