The assessment on Bordeaux is right on the money. However that is why you have a cellar to put a few away and see if they do come up to the mark in time. There are many wines on the market that are great with food and it is all the more fun trying new varietials and makers to see if you can find a new star.
There are many new wine makers in every country that have a gift.
Spain, Australia and New Zealand have developed out of sight - try a trip to sample those off the radar it is well worth the experience.
